Hello
by WITNESS-FOR-WATCHTOWER-REFORM injust to say a big hello.
i have been reading this site for some time now and have been very unhappy with some of the things emanating from watchtower head quarters in new york.
the final straw for me is the upcoming watchtower study this weekend encouraging us to shun our own family members (our own mothers if need be) if they are disfellowshipped....a step too far for my liking.

Lets hear what your local needs was about this week
by dbq407 inours started out with matt.
25:23. he brought out that "good and faithful slave" was talking about the anointed but wait for it.........yes the principle can be applied to our cong.
well tonight it was about getting all the territories worked once a year.

Thank you dbq407 for this post. I listened on phone line just to hear local needs. It was the most negative talk I have ever heard. Essentially, it sounded like a sales meeting by a very disappointed, shaming sales manager reaming out his unproductive sales force. It was about low publisher hours over the last few months. He started with Heb 6: 11,12. He reminded cong that just a few months ago CO had LOVINGLY asked them to think about this scripture where it said we don't want you to become SLUGGISH regarding ministry. He went on to define sluggish. Then said, "Now, nobody wants to be thought of as a SLUG right?" Hours were WAY down in March from when CO spoke a few months prior. He spewed out monthly hour averages, trend isn't up; it's down-if we were looking at it on a graph, and congregation has lowest hours in circuit. The FAITHFUL SLAVE asked us to set a goal to talk to every person in our territory during the month of March. What we accomplished during our memorial campaign was about the poorest we've done for completing the territories, getting the people around. His positive points were: after CO visit some fs groups had better support and there were large number of auxiliary pioneers, but those numbers don't count in cong average hours. He then spoke about things that could be distracting from ministry. Next scripture, Luke 21:28 & 3428 ...."deliverance getting near.” 34 ...."ANXIETIES of life, and suddenly that day be instantly upon you". Of course he didn't read verse 32, "generation will by no means pass away"...Next, he cherry picked a scripture that doesn't even apply to, as he said, "Jehovah deserves our best as described at Luke 13: 24"---"EXERT yourselves vigorously.... narrow door...."?? We STRUGGLE to be out in the ministry. So friends, you can do it, we can all do it together. We can EXERT ourselves in the field ministry.
It's no wonder there is so much depression, sadness and anxiety amongst "the happiest, most loving people on earth"
The COBE. who has lead the congregation into the ground by being aloof and unloving, didn't give the talk. He assigned to one of his minions, a young elder. It was a shaming meeting. Not delivered to inspire.

They are constantly being told to do more, do more! They're compared to fictitious others who have the worse possible health, family or financial situations yet manage to pioneer. Example, if the sister in the iron lung can pioneer, why can't you? If there actually is someone in congregation or circuit who really has had very bad things happen to them they will be repeatedly interviewed to guilt others into doing more. The carrot of "the end is coming, soon, very soon" is constantly dangled in front of them. If you want to see your dead loved ones again you must serve the organization! No wonder they're anxious and depressed! -

Hard to Remember but Back in the Ninteen Fifies...

I remember as a young child hearing the announcement that a person was disfellowshipped for fornication. I didn't even know what fornication was at the time. I remember the skits on the stage in which sisters were allowed to act out an opportunity to 'incidental' witness, which was later changed to 'informal' witnessing, because it "shouldn't be an afterthought, which incidental implies....the end is so close....must actively engage people in lifesaving discussions". The piano playing was always...entertaining....when the regular piano player wasn't there.

Under WT rules, can JW women file for a divorce? Or can only men file?
by JimmyPage inthe reason i ask is because while watching the "dateline" episode about ralph candelario, the claim was made that only jw men could file for divorce, not women.
.
i had never thought about this before.. also, how does this apply in cases where a husband is "apostate" while the wife is faithful to wt?

My relative was df'ed for one 'indiscretion'. His wife 'forgave' him which in JW-land means she no longer had scriptural grounds for divorce. A few weeks later, she told him she was divorcing him anyway. Three months after my relative was df'ed, he hung himself. Well, now his wife was free! Six weeks after he hung himself his 'grieving' widow announced on Facebook she was in a relationship and named the JW man. Three months after her husband hung himself she married the JW man she had been dating while still married to my relative. This woman and this man, who was dating a married woman, are in good standing in the congregation neither are being shunned. Sometimes, depending on who you know in JW org, example : if your daddy is an elder you can do as you please. -

I've not been to kh for a year and have had two phone calls in less than a week. Two elders want to talk to me about my last conversation with one of them a month ago. I have sooo moved on. The message he left said I should call him. Yeah, that's not going to happen! -

The Elders of the congregations make for the worst possible "shepards".
by Dunedain inthe main goal of a shepard, is to keep the flock as safe as possible.
the loss of just a single sheep, could be devastating to a flock, and a shepards financial well being.
every sheep is valuable, from a monetary stanpoint, and future strength of the flock.

70 year old Helen's health went downhill very fast. About two years ago she had cancer and had most of her stomach removed. She regained her health again and up until 3 weeks before she recently died April 3rd, she had been attending meetings regularly and maintaining a life of "jw works". Helen had no husband, having been divorced for decades. Her adult children, not JW, were very loving and attentive. Otherwise, she was all alone and didn't drive. One day about 6 weeks prior to her death. she called COBE. Helen was very depressed and crying. She had begun having pain in her abdomen again. Even though he is retired and in the best position to go to Helen along with his elderette wife and comfort Helen, COBE told her she needed to call her doctor and ask him to prescribe antidepressants....The end. No visit, no follow-up phone call. However, COBE and his elderette wife attended Helen's jw infomercial memorial service. Just an example of sickening behavior from so called 'shepards' who think they are appointed by God! Too busy riding in cars with their friends, going for coffee and knocking on empty doors to visit the widows, sick and elderly!
